Cholera in Simbabwe: Victoria Falls bislang verschont

Fit for Travel.--People planning to visit Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, need not have any cholera fears.Gotovictoriafalls.com has established that, according to the District Medical Officer for Victoria Falls, visitors can rest assured that:• There are so far no reported cases of cholera in the region. • The area is safe but all are advised to take standard precautions such as washing hands before eating and after using the bathroom, etc. • For visitors intending to visit outlying areas, such as villages, it is recommended that they take bottled drinking water with them. • The health authorities are regularly in touch with stakeholders, informing them and warning of potential outbreaks and updating them on public health matters. • Community sensitization is also carried out in the schools and general communities. The Environmental Health Department also carries out monthly water quality monitoring exercises.
